# Settings

> Every setting in Dawn, what it changes, and what it is set to by default.

Send `/settings`. Everything here belongs to the **profile you are in** — [each profile has its own](/wallets/profiles).

The screen is in four sections.

## Trading

| Setting               | Default | What it changes                                                                                                                       |
| --------------------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🎯 **Slippage** | **15%** | How far the price may move against you before a trade is refused. See [Execution](/trading/execution#slippage). |
| ⚡ **Auto Buy** | Off | Pasting an address buys a fixed amount immediately. |
| 🛡 **MEV Protection** | **On** | Routes Solana swaps through a private lane so nobody can front-run you. See [Execution](/trading/execution#mev-protection). |
| ⛽️ **Gas** | Medium | How hard your trades bid to land. Low, Medium or High. |
| 💵 **Fees in PnL** | Off | Shows what a position has paid in fees — Dawn's, the routing cost and the venue's — beside its profit. PnL is net of them either way. |

### Auto Buy

With Auto Buy on, **pasting a contract address buys**. The trade card lands in the chat and the coin's panel follows it. With it off, pasting an address only opens the panel.

Pick an amount to switch it on — **\$5 · \$10 · \$25 · \$50 · \$100**, or type your own between **\$1** and **\$10,000**. Tapping the Auto Buy button switches it off again and keeps the amount for next time.

<Warning>
  This turns pasting into spending. Forwarding a message, pasting an address to check it, or tapping a link in a group can all become a trade.

  The amount you set here is also the ceiling on what a [group link](/social/group-links) can spend for you. Keep it to something you would be relaxed about losing to a mis-tap.
</Warning>

## Guardrails

| Setting            | Default | What it changes                                                 |
| ------------------ | ------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🔥 **Degen Mode** | Off | 100% slippage and no liquidity protection on buys. |
| 🪄 **Auto-Adjust** | Off     | Shrinks a buy you cannot afford instead of refusing it.         |
| 💸 **Gas Surplus** | Off | How much extra gas a trade may charge you above Dawn's \$5 cap. |

These have their own page: [Guardrails](/settings/guardrails).

## Auto Sell

| Setting            | Default |
| ------------------ | ------- |
| 📉 **Stop Loss**   | Off     |
| 📈 **Take Profit** | Off     |

Levels set here are applied to **every new position** in the profile. You can still change any individual position from its own page afterwards.

Defaults are relative to your entry — a percent like `-30%` or a multiple like `2x`. See [Take profit and stop loss](/orders/tp-sl#defaults-for-every-new-position).

<Tip>
  A default stop loss is the highest-value setting on this page. It is the difference between a bad trade costing you part of a position and costing you all of it.
</Tip>

## Groups

| Setting            | Default | What it changes                                                                       |
| ------------------ | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🔗 **Group Links** | Off | Whether tapping a one-tap trade in a chat trades immediately, or just opens the coin. |

See [Group links](/social/group-links).

## Buy and sell buttons

The amounts on every token panel are yours to set — see [Presets](/settings/presets).

## Copying settings to a new profile

When you create a profile, Dawn offers to start it with the settings of the one you were just using. That copies this whole page; it does not copy wallets, funds or positions.
